Clovis Unified received a charter school petition on January 2, 2018, requesting that the District approve the Petition and be the overseeing agency for the One & Only Academy. The District has 60 days to review and approve or deny the Petition; this timeline was extended by mutual agreement to this March 21, 2018, Board meeting. 

District staff has engaged in a thorough review of the petition and prepared a comprehensive Staff Report and Proposed Findings of Fact. Based on that review and the factual findings, District staff recommends that the Board adopts Resolution No. 3636 declaring that the Governing Board:

1. Denies the Petition on the grounds that the Petitioners are demonstrably unlikely to successfully implement the program set forth in the Petition (Ed. Code, § 47605, subd. (b)(2)); and the Petition does not contain reasonably comprehensive descriptions of certain required elements set forth in Education Code section 47605, subdivisions (b)(5)(A-O); and
2. Adopts as their own the Staff Report and Proposed Findings of Fact Regarding One & Only Academy Charter Petition found in Exhibit A of Resolution No. 3636.
